Fed: Horseback protest against horse restrictions in Kosciuszko
The men and women from Snowy River have descended en masse on their regional New South
Wales Parks and Wildlife Services office today to protest against any further riding restrictions
in Kosciuszko National Park.
More than 100 riders rallied at the steps of the office in Queanbeyan, near Canberra,
to condemn the state government's draft management plan for the park.
The protest also attracted New South Wales Nationals leader ANDREW STONER, opposition
forestry spokesman ANDREW FRASER and Nationals MP for Burrinjuck KATRINA HODGKINSON.
Mr STONER joined with some of the protesters in the final leg of their seven-day ride
from Tumut to Rutledge St in Queanbeyan.
The Snowy Mountains Bush Users Group is claiming that horse riders, four-wheel drivers
and fishers are already restricted to just 12 per cent of the park.
