NSW: Aluminium plant fined $45,000 after toxic fumes leak

The operator of an aluminium factory has been fined $45,000 for breaches of health and
safety regulations following a 1994 incident in which workers were swamped by toxic fumes.

The New South Wales Industrial Court has heard eight workers at Capral Aluminium's
Granville plant experienced stomach pains, dizziness, eye irritation, burning chest sensations
and chronic nausea after hydrogen chloride fumes and vapours leaked.
