NSW: Government must woo bookies back - Opposition
SYDNEY, Feb 26 AAP - The NSW government needs to woo major bookmakers back to the stateafter its decision to scrap a controversial tax, the opposition said today.
Shadow Gaming and Racing Minister Robert Oakeshott said the government's decision to"cave in" to pressure from the racing industry to scrap the turnover tax comes after majorbookmakers had already set up operations interstate.
The government announced yesterday it was abolishing the one per cent state turnovertax which was paid by bookmakers.
The challenge was now set for the government to attract bookies back to NSW, …
